Alternative Health Plan Package Solutions for Individuals and Families
In most cases we can design a comprehensive alternative health plan package with much lower out of pocket costs on most services for 20-40% LESS than high deductible, narrow network ACA/Obamacare plans.
If you are relatively healthy and don’t qualify for a tax credit subsidy to help pay for an ACA/Obamacare plan, or if you just want to design a better plan for yourself than the “one size fits all” ACA/Obamacare plans, let us help you.
Fixed Benefit Plans:
In Pennsylvania we work with the following company to provide the highest coverage Fixed Benefit plans available. We combine these Fixed Benefit plans with supplemental health plans (see US Supplemental Coverage) to create a comprehensive, alternative health plan package to meet each client’s specific needs and budget.
Philadelphia American Life
ManhattanLife |
Short Term Medical Plans:
IMPORTANT UPDATE: A new federal rule finalized on September 1, 2024 limits the maximum term on Short Term Medical plans to 4 months! Because of this change we will no longer combine these plans with Fixed Benefit plans (see above) and supplemental health plans (see US Supplemental Coverage). However, we will continue to offer Short Term Medical plans from the same top companies.
In Pennsylvania we work with the following companies to provide the best available Short Term Medical plans.
United Healthcare |
Please see our health insurance quote page to access the quote pages and run preliminary quotes for the above company’s plans.
Off Exchange, ACA Compliant Major Medical Plans:
We now offer two programs that include multiple ACA compliant major medical plans. These plans can be a better option for people who are reasonably healthy and make too much money to qualify for a significant tax credit subsidy to buy an ACA/Obamacare plan on the state Health Plan Finder exchange. In Pennsylvania we have both plans available. Here are some of the highlights:
- Traditional Major Medical plans fully compliant with ACA rules and regulations
- Up to Six different deductible options and one or two HSA qualified plans to choose from
- Maximum out of pocket limits that are $1,850 LESS than ACA/Obamacare 2025 limits on non-HSA plans. $1,500 less on HSA plans.
- Cigna or Blue Cross Blue Shield nationwide PPO networks
- Plans available year round
- Rate is locked for 12 months
- Plans are health underwritten. One is accept/reject. The other has final rates that can be rated up or down based on health or person can be declined
ACA/Obamacare Plans for Individuals and Families
In Pennsylvania ACA/Obamacare plans are available through the Federal Marketplace. Insurance companies offering plans vary by county. We work with the following insurance companies in this state:

Please see our health insurance quote page to access the quote page for the Federal Marketplace to run preliminary quotes for the above companies plans.
Alternative Level Funded Small Group Plans
For small businesses with fewer than 50 employees, the ACA/Obamacare law applies the same rules to group health insurance plans as it does to individual plans. As a result, businesses that may have younger, healthier people to cover on a group health plan, the ACA/Obamacare fully insured group plans may not be the best option.
Therefore, we offer these companies the choice of going with an alternative level funded health plan. A level funded health plan allows a business to custom design their health benefits. Monthly premiums are fixed just like with an ACA/Obamacare plan. However, premiums on a level funded plan are typically at least 15-20% less than the same plan design on an ACA/Obamacare plan. Plus, in most years with average to below average usage of the plan, there is an opportunity to receive an additional refund at the end of each plan year.
In Pennsylvania we work with the following companies to provide the best available level funded health to meet your specific needs and budget:
Allstate Benefits Group
Trustmark Small Business Benefits
IHC Specialty Benefits
United Healthcare |
Note: We are continuing to look for new companies offering alternative health plan options for small businesses. Because of that we may have other options in addition to the companies listed above.
